What ingredients should we be avoiding?
Whenever people shop for skincare and different products, they search for products based on what they need at the moment. However, how do we know which products to avoid? What differentiates products that are good for our skin and aren’t, and how can we know which ingredients are bad for the skin, and can cause issues like breaking out and irritation?
To begin with, an enemy in disguise is fragrance. Many people are drawn to a product when it smells good. Skincare products should not be smelling that great! Fragrances are proven to cause irritation in the skin, which can lead to breakouts. Furthermore, fragrances can cause allergic reactions to some.
Another harmful skincare ingredient is formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is found mostly in shampoos and body washes, but can also be found in moisturizers and serums.
Formaldehyde is dangerous because it can not only cause irritation, but can also lead to worse outcomes like cancer. Formaldehyde is a flammable material which is found in many products that we use today, including household products!
Reassuring that your skincare doesn’t have any ingredients that can cause irritation is crucial to a skincare routine because the wrong ingredient can be the reason as to why many don’t see the results they want to see. We need to make sure the skincare we use is clean to optimize the look of our skin!
